Frequently asked questions
- 1.What is Toolbench?
- Toolbench by Aaffiliates is a collection of free browser-based utilities for images, PDFs, documents, developers, and more. Most tools run directly in your browser so you can work quickly without installing desktop software.
- 2.Are the tools free to use?
- Yes. The tools are offered at no charge. The site may show ads in some places to support hosting and development. Creating an account or upgrading where offered is optional and only needed for specific features.
- 3.Do my files get uploaded to your servers?
- Many tools process files entirely on your device in the browser. When a feature needs a server—for example, something that explicitly says it creates or stores a link or record—we only handle what that feature requires. See our privacy policy for details.
- 4.Do I need an account?
- No. You can browse and use most tools without signing in. An account is only required for features that need to remember you across sessions, such as saved short links or account-specific settings.
- 5.What can I do after I sign in?
- Signed-in users may get access to account features like managing short links, preferences, or other options that depend on your profile. Available features can change over time and are shown in your account area when you are logged in.
- 6.What is VIP or a paid tier?
- VIP or other paid options may offer higher limits, fewer interruptions, or extra features. See the account and VIP pages when signed in for current benefits and pricing.
- 7.How do short links work?
- When you create a short link while signed in, we store the destination URL and a short path you can share. Clicks may be counted for your dashboard. Links may have an expiry or retention rules as described in the product or your account.
- 8.Will my short links last forever?
- Not necessarily. Links can expire, be removed for policy or abuse reasons, or be deleted if you remove them from your account. Treat short links as convenient but not guaranteed permanent archives.
- 9.Why do I see ads?
- Advertising helps keep the service free. Ads may be shown in designated slots. You can use ad blockers according to your preference, though some layouts assume ads may load in those regions.
- 10.Is my personal data sold?
- Our privacy policy describes what we collect and how we use it. We do not describe Toolbench as a data brokerage; read the privacy policy for categories of data, partners, and your choices.
- 11.Which browsers are supported?
- Modern evergreen browsers (recent Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) generally work best. Very old browsers may lack APIs needed for some tools. If something fails, try updating the browser or switching to another supported browser.
- 12.Can I use tools offline?
- You need a connection to load the site. Some tools may continue to work offline after the page is loaded if they use only client-side APIs, but you should not rely on offline use unless a specific tool documents it.
- 13.Are there file size limits?
- Limits depend on the tool, your device memory, and the browser. Very large files may be slow or fail. If processing fails, try a smaller file, a different format, or another browser tab with more free memory.
- 14.A tool failed or showed an error—what should I do?
- Try again with a smaller file, a different browser, or after disabling extensions that block scripts. If the problem persists, note which tool, browser version, and file type you used when reporting the issue.
- 15.How do I find a specific tool?
- Use the search on the home page, browse by category from the Tools menu, or scroll the catalog. Favorites and recent tools may appear on the home page when your browser stores that information locally.
- 16.Can I use Toolbench for commercial work?
- Many utilities are general-purpose. Your rights depend on the terms of use, the content you process, and applicable law. Review the terms of use and ensure you have rights to the files you upload or convert.
- 17.How do I delete my account or data?
- Where account settings are available, use them to manage or delete your profile. For other requests, contact support or follow the contact path described in the privacy policy.
- 18.Do you read the content of my documents?
- We design flows so that client-side tools do not need to send your file contents to us. Server-backed features process only what is necessary for that feature. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
- 19.How can I report a bug or suggest a feature?
- Use the contact or feedback options published on this site or in your account area. Include steps to reproduce, browser version, and screenshots when possible.
- 20.Where can I read legal terms and privacy?
- Our Privacy policy and Terms of use pages describe collection, use, and rules for using the service. Links are typically in the site footer and are kept alongside this FAQ for reference.
